Estimator needed with a background in woodworking/joinery needed to work with a reputable company in Blackburn, Lancashire. This rapidly growing company is working with some of the UKs main contractors on projects throughout the UK. Due to the continuing expansion they are looking for an Estimator to manage the pricing of future projects which will include quoting for all manner of enquiries, ranging from a few thousand pounds to multi-million pound complex contracts.
In the Estimator job you will:
Have responsibility for the costings and quoting of multiple enquiries/projects
Work alongside the project team to source multiple suppliers for best products/rates
Prepare quotes and tender packages, accounting for machining timings, material costs and expected labour rates
Negotiate valuations and final accounts for projects, ensuring work won is at a profitable margin for the company
Ensuring all costs are tracked and validated as quotes run through the manufacturing department
To be successful in the Estimator job you will need:
Relevant production / estimating / manufacturing / operations experience in a panel furniture or joinery manufacturing business
The ability to work from customer drawings and transfer to appropriate format for production
A good understanding of component fixings through the joinery process and the ability to produce material requirements to pass on to the buyer
A strong working knowledge of quotes, tenders and contract documents
Experience liaising with customers regarding design and signing off on jobs
The ability to interpret and make calculations based on drawings that account for job complexity, material costs, machining timings and labour costs
Sound IT skills including Microsoft Office and Excel
Desirable qualities include a joinery / woodworking qualification and experience working with AutoCAD and Inventor software
This is a permanent, full time job based in Blackburn and a salary of up to £30,000/yr is on offer. The role will involve some UK travel. Working hours are Mon-Thurs 7:45-16:45 and Fri 07:45-11:45.
