•Delegate jobs and tasks to cleanroom operatives.

•Check and prepare production paper work for each job ensuring that the information on the travellers, work instructions and drawings matches the information on the Pick List e.g. work order, lot number, quantity, description. Highlight any errors to supervision.

•Plan work flow to maximise product quality and efficient use of resources and oversee production processes to ensure that allocated tasks are being completed within the allocated time.

•Identify and implement continuous improvement with support from other functions.

•Create and modify work instructions and train operators on updates.

•Prepare new jobs coming in to the cleanroom; dispense components to small plastic containers with a GRN sticker, ensure that all the components needed for a job are present. Report any stock issues to the inventory control team.

•Dispense and decant hazardous substances, ensuring that necessary PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is worn at all the time. (This process is controlled by the daily Cyclo Rota provided by Production Supervisor/Manager).

•Monitor operative’s work and production documentation on an hourly basis ensuring that the jobs in progress comply with quality standards and that details provided on timesheets are correct and correspond with the job in process.

•Respond to issues identified in hourly checks with support, guidance or quality defect reports as required to ensure that issues are addressed effectively.

•Control and maintain a clean, tidy organized working environment throughout the site and sign Weekly Table Cleaning Log, Cleaning Record and Cleaning Equipment Check List.

•Provide effective training and retraining of cleanroom staff in the skills and behaviours needed to perform to a high level and update the training matrix to reflect this activity.

•Support and coach all the cleanroom operatives in their day to day activities. Resolve personnel problems by analysing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions and recommending action.

•Protect the health, safety and welfare of all cleanroom employees, ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed and report unsafe practices or equipment and communicate problems with Supervisor and/or Production Manager.

•Comply with the QMS (Quality Management System) and local policies to achieve all production objectives.

•Champion cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) principles and practices at all times.

•Report unsafe practices or equipment and communicate problems to supervisor or production manager.

•Perform any additional tasks as required by the job role from time to time.


•Academic qualification as General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) level preferably in Maths, English or Science subjects.

•Sufficiently good understanding of written and spoken English to enable communication with colleagues, complete paperwork and to understand written instructions.

•Sufficient numeracy to accurately count materials, capture test results and generate basic summary information such as totals and percentages.

•Good team working skills, evidenced by willingness to support other team members and production management in the smooth running of the CME.

•Ability to read, understand and work with detailed visual aids process flows and assembly documentation.

•Ability to use various hand tools required for assembling medical devices.

•Excellent dexterity as work involves small components.

•Able to work in a fast paced environment.

•Ability to provide concentrated visual and mental attention within a production environment which involves performing multiple repetitive operations.

•Basic knowledge of Quality Control.

•Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

•Physical capability to sit and stand at work station up to 8 hours/day.

•Have no allergies to chemicals and solvents.

•Able to wear cleanroom attire.

•Able to comply with standards of cleanliness required: no make up, no jewellery or piercings, no hair gel, no nail polish/short nails).

•People management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate others, delegate work and explain ideas.
